Mick Foley, also known by his ring names Mankind, Cactus Jack, and Dude Love, officially retired from professional wrestling on August 4, 2012, during a special event called "Farewell to the Hardcore Legend" held by the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment).
The retirement was a result of Foley's ongoing health issues, which included multiple concussions, a dislocated jaw, a broken jaw, numerous knee and hip surgeries, and other injuries sustained during his decades-long career as a wrestler.
Before his retirement, Foley was one of the most popular and iconic figures in professional wrestling, known for his extreme, hardcore style and willingness to take incredible risks and punishment during his matches. He held numerous championships throughout his career, including the WWE Championship and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
After his retirement, Foley continued to make occasional appearances on WWE programming and remained busy with various other projects, including writing several memoirs and children's books, hosting a podcast, and performing stand-up comedy.
